New Podcast: Case Study with Melissa Hilton at Erie Family Health — Relational Fundraising for a $100M+ FQHC

On this month’s podcast, I’m speaking with Melissa Hilton at Erie Family Health. So many leaders who come to me are already raising millions but want to diversify their funding model. Often their organizations are greatly dependent on ever-changing and slow-paying government dollars like Medicaid/Medicare. They also want to scale gen-ops revenue through philanthropy but want help learning how to do that for the long-term.

That's exactly what we're talking about with my client, Erie Family Health Center’s Vice President of Development, Melissa Hilton. Erie is a FQHC - even if you aren't a Federally Qualitified Healthcare Center, this episode will be really valuable. You can listen on Apple Podcasts here or watch on YouTube here

The Good News?

Philanthropy CAN play a bigger role in your overall funding model, smooth out cash flow, and create greater flexibility!

The trick? You’ve got to continually invest in your team learning how to do this. And that’s just what Melissa has done!

In this podcast Case Study you’ll hear:

💊 How her team is taking a new multi-year approach in relationship building as gov $ continue to be unpredictable.

💊 How she’s started shifting donors from project-based fundraising to gen-operating support.

💊 What’s changed in her donor conversations that has grow gifts.

💊  Why creating a true Case for Support was critical for their FQHC when trying to attract larger private donors.

💊 What’s simpler in how they speak about what they do and how it’s provides clarity and confidence to donors.

Last thing I’ll say about Erie Family Health Centers - As an FQHC, they provide access to affordable, holistic, and really exceptional health care to everyone - regardless of ability to pay, immigration status, or insurance status.

Like many of you, during COVID they moved fast and introduced more programs to address the social drivers of health. These are all those things outside the exam room, which account for more than half of your health…things like having a safe place to walk outdoors, access to healthy food, transportation to get to work in places you need to go.

We know these are critical things that affect health and Erie stood in the gap during such an important time in our nation’s history. I count it an honor to work with Erie and ALL my clients who served so sacrificially on the front line these last few years!

Now, if you’re an organization highly dependent on government dollars and are ready to invest in long-term sustainability and diversification through philanthropy, we should talk. The path to more general-operating dollars through philanthropy isn't as hard as you might think. Reach out here.

Whenever you’re ready, here are THREE things you can do next:

Sherry Quam Taylor

Sherry Quam Taylor works with growth-minded Nonprofit CEOs who are scaling their organizations but still need larger amounts of general operating support to truly grow. She breaks their teams free from the limitations of transactional fundraising and helps them reimagine their entire approach to revenue generation.

The high-performing leaders Sherry works with want to find and secure more unrestricted revenue from investment-level donors. They simply need more funding to do what’s in their Strategic Plan. To achieve this, she transforms their teams and boards into high-ROI revenue generators - revealing how they can align every hour they spend fundraising with new principles that double and triple donation sizes.

As a result of learning her methodology, Sherry’s clients regularly add 7-figures of gen-ops revenue to their bottom line by learning how to attract investment-level donors that WANT to fund their work. But the biggest transformation they experience is knowing the exact strategy, path, and team that will propel them to generate the 2-10X dollars their strategic plans require.

Sherry attributes the success of her business to her passion for modeling radical confidence to the future CEOs in her house - her two teenage daughters.
