The Million Dollar Question in Nonprofit Fundraising
If your fundraising team can't answer this question, you may have a bigger problem than you realize.
“If I gave you $1M right now what would you do with it?”
Classic, right? Does this still happen?
Yep - was just told the story a few weeks ago.
The answer to this question is strongest when your org has a:
🟡Multi-year needs-based budget articulating your org’s TRUE need (not squeak-by)
🟡3-5 year revenue plan balancing that needs-based budget
🟡Few tools in hand to help guide donors through investment-level conversations
There’s a CLEAR answer to that question that sets you up for a large gen-ops gift.
But few orgs are ready for it.
👉Too many pivot to list of projects that $1M would fund. We all know that approach often creates restricted gifts and perpetuates cash flow problems.
