Is Nonprofit Fundraising Easier for Certain Organizations?

Image of the word "donations" on a typewriter representing how nonprofit leaders need to do things that attract their ideal and perfect donor.

Agree or disagree? Finding and securing donors for organizations where the mission is personal and “all heart”, like homelessness, orphan care, or animals is so much easier!

Agree or disagree? Answered Yes?

This all comes down to an important question: Are you doing the things that attract YOUR ideal and perfect donor?

If an animal rights organization wants to pull on the heart-strings of their donors, they’d pivot to stories and before and after photos. And, don’t forget the pet adoption reels!

But what if you’re not a touchy-feely mission? Maybe you’re a technical organization working in the climate space? Or one who tends to attract donors of a certain profession, like lawyers working in pro bono legal space? Or not direct-service?

Well, here’s the good news and the bad news . . .

The good news? Your mission is worthy of people giving their best gift. You can ATTRACT them with explicit clarity on your PLANS, PROGRAMS, & FINANCIAL NEED. This is done through very customized relational steps…rarely events and appeals.

The bad news? There are a few extra hurdles in messaging you’re going to need to nail! And then you’ve got to be excellent and LEADING donors through very specific donor experiences tied to THEIR mission for giving.

Maybe, the best news? You can overcome this. And the approach is actually sustainable. Raising money for kittens and kids isn’t always easier. Sometimes it does look easier. But, my niche orgs always come out ahead.
