Today my contribution to Forbes Nonprofit Council is about a surprising reality: Many donors don’t actually know the level of financial support your organization requires to keep driving change.
 

Time and again, we assume our donors understand our organization’s overall financial need. Yet, when a donor who has consistently given $15,000 per year suddenly understands the true financial picture, their giving often increases—sometimes into six figures. 

 

[I see this all the time, BTW.]

 

Why? Because no one ever explained the overall need and then asked them to give their best gift toward that need.
