Is your Nonprofit Team fearful of how they’ll grow revenue?
An incredible Executive Director recently said to me, “My team is fearful about how we’ll grow our revenue.”
Honestly, I felt it too. They were paralyzed.
Here’s the thing…You’ll never scale your gen-ops revenue if your:
❌ organization operates in a scarcity zone (it will remain scarce)
❌ team is fearful of doing things differently to get different results (they won’t)
❌ team constantly fights for their limitations (they’ll be limited)
Thinking this might be you?
Here are a few checks….Do you hear?
💬 “We only create and approve budgets based on what is pledged or contracted.”
💬 “We’ve only ever grown 3% annually. So, 5% seems like too much of a stretch.”
💬 “If we end our golf-outing, we won’t get those dollars from those foursomes (filled with folks who are not mission-aligned).”
💬 “We can’t just approve a budget without knowing where the money is coming from!”
💬 “That donor would never give a general-operating gift. They like projects.”
Can I be honest?
👉 Fighting for these limitations and not being open to the fact that there may be a BETTER way to do things, keeps too many nonprofit organizations small.
It’s actually a fun part of my work - revealing where the blind spots are. Where the fear has blinded an organization’s revenue potential.
Push against these lies the sector has told us for way too long and you’ll reduce fear.
